C
heck out this cool inital cap I am testing out. It's by typographer and designer Jessica Hiche, whose work is quite inspiring. She runs a fun blog where she posts a new initial cap every day called Daily Drop Cap.

Travel Travel Travel

As specified in my post earlier this year, I'm finally getting to do some much needed and wanted travel! In May I went to Texas (College Station & Houston), Turks & Caicos, Portland, Washington (Quincy) and San Diego. Whew! So much fun!

Well, this Friday I leave for Mexico - I'm gonna hang out on the beach (just south of Playa del Carmen) with Alexandra. I'm keeping this tan all summer!

New Work

Work has been busy, which keeps me from updating this blog with my non-work oriented fun stuff. I'll get to that soon, but in the meantime check out some new interactive work I did for Sprint 4G Gaming on my portfolio blog:

Cheetos Mighty Zingers

After 9 mos of hard and tedious work, my TV spots are finally complete and live! Tune into late night TBS, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1 and Adult Swim or prime-time NBC around shows like the Office or Parks and Recreation and you'll hopefully catch them.

The spots are for a new Cheetos product called Cheetos Mighty Zingers, smaller cheetos that are packed 2 flavors to a bag—Cheddar and Salsa or Cajun and Ranch.

Here's a few highlights from the spots "Observation" and "Experimental Experiment."

Here's links to the spots on YouTube:

There's an online campaign as well. Wednesday, March 31, catch our online partnership units running on YouTube, Funny or Die, and Slate. Additional smaller units will continue to run after that day.

motivator within a motivator

hopefully this topic isnt getting too old yet - but my most recent fitness goal is to gym 3-4x a week, with the emphasis on 4. I use an application from my gym called Wellpower to track my gym visits—it's a good motivator to be able to log in the next morning and see the number go up. I felt compelled to celebrate how my graph looks when i saw the yellow bar today - i can visually see the change that my new fitness goal has had. It's a motivator within a motivator. Let's hope I keep it up! At least my booty is looking nicer :)

a small rant

When it comes to conservation, recycling, composting, etc, there are different levels of laziness that i see at my agency. One that I cannot stand is throwing things into the wrong bin—like throwing a used compostable plate with a knapkin and leftover foods bits into an office trash can. Move your ass to the kitchen and put it in the compost bin!

Even worse is the reason for this rant- throwing a recyclable container into the recycle bin, with food in it, ie a full serving of sushi. Hey slappass—take off the lid, dump the sushi in the compost bin to your right, and then throw the lid and container into the recycle bin. So easy a child could do it.

It just amazes me how much this agency does to make it easy for everyone to do small things in the name of sustainability and most people cannot even take a second to think and participate!

New Year, New Kelly

2010 is going to be a big year-a year of changes, travel and improvements. After slacking off over the holidays, I have renewed my commitment to exercise. My go-to classes used to be kickboxing and zumba, which have an emphasis on cardio. Now I have begun attending spin and club power, which is a strength training class. I still love zumba though, and hopefully club one nob hill will be introducing morning and evening zumba classes this February-sweet! Not only am I switching up and increasing my workouts, but I recently attempted and succeeded at working out while on business trips. While in LA, despite the gloomy weather, I got up early and went for a morning walk on the beach. Such a simple but successful accomplishment. And for the first time ever I worked out in a hotel gym. Yay!

Aside from exercise, the next big change in my life is a new apartment! Moving is probably the biggest stress I ever have in my life, so I usually avoid it. However, I feel very good about the new place. My experience with finding it was very good- one of the owners used to work for GSP back in the day. Also, the building is from the 1930s and has been in the owners family ever since. It's a lovely building with lots of history. Even better, the apartment itself is very large and spacious. It seems that it will fit my needs for storage, living space, efficiency, creativity, inspiration, serenity, natural light, entertaining, hosting guests, and overall a new positive energy. I move in this Friday! Please come visit!

Another big topic for this year is travel. I am finally getting to do some much missed travel for work for my new Cheetos campaign. LA is a frequent destination, and in Feb we'll get to go to NY! Furthermore, I am planning to go to Japan with Nadine probably early April, after the Cheetos launch. I am very excited-we have a lot of planning to do! In May I am going to Turks & Caicos with my travel buddies Carrie and Traci, plus James and Stephen. I can't wait to lay on the beach with the girls!

Lots of changes, lots of things going on! This is going to be a big year -- 31 is around the corner, and much more to come!!
